One can see that quantity of light per square mm is the same for both pictures because they have the same aperture. However each squares that we can considered as the pixels of the FINAL picture (or dot for a print) are bigger in the case of the big detector. Since the density of light is equal, each squares contains more light. We can put 8Mega squares this will still be the same.
